Ticket Ice Code of Conduct
TICKET ICE USERS (SKATERS & COACHES)
CODE OF CONDUCT 2011/2012
All sessions start on the hour and are 50 minutes in length. If there is no flood, skaters receive 10 minutes bonus. No over-skating the session time or skaters will be billed at $15 for extra time.- All skaters must sign in on the clipboard at the side of the boards, next to the music area, at the beginning of each session. Each session skated must be checked off under the session time posted. Any skater skating more than one session will be charged for each session skated, if the extra session has not been paid at the time of skating, the extra session will be billed at $15 at the month end. Ticket holders please see Ticket holders Terms of Use. If there has been a request for a flood, no coach has the right to waiver it being done.
- The use of the music by a coach’s request has precedence over any skater. Coaches should not use the music equipment for choreographing (continually playing music over and over again). Coaches please us a mobile CD player. Coaches must not play skaters music more than once if there are other coaches waiting. A coach wanting to use the music and play a solo ‘back to back’ must confer with other coaches on the session before doing so. No coach shall play several students music consecutively unless there is no coach request for music. Skaters playing their music may do so provided there are no coaches waiting.
- The use of audible bad language will not be tolerated in any language by skaters or coaches. Yelling or screaming on the ice is not acceptable.
- Skaters and coaches must show respect and tolerance for every person on the ice suface. Any altercations/disputes between skaters and/or coaches must be dealt with off the ice surface. Any situation that can’t be resolved, please contact Sue or Roy Bradshaw at (905) 841-6746.
- All CanSkate/beginner skaters must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet at all times when skating on any GTA Skating Academy ticket ice. This is a mandatory rule from Skate Canada and the only exception will be skaters who have passed the Level 5 CanSkate badge. Any CanSkate level skater is not allowed to skate ticket ice unless they have a Skate Canada registered coach with then at all times that they are on the ice. CanSkate skaters must not be coached and allowed to stand in the middle of the ice surface and should be kept to the parameters of the ice. CanSkate skaters are not capable of moving out of the way quickly and coaches must use their discretion when allowing CanSkaters to leave the boards area during a session where there are other skaters using the ice.
- All skaters must be registered with Skate Canada through their home club for the current season to use ticket ice. No exceptions. All coaches must be registered with Skate Canada for the current season to teach on the GTA Skating Academy ticket ice, with the exception of foreign skaters and coaches (non-residents of Canada). Anyone found skating without a current 2011/2012 Skate Canada registration will have their skating privileges terminated until registered. Coaches – please do not bring skaters on the GTA ice unless they are registered.
- No pair skating/dance teams allowed (including side by side stroking) unless permitted by the directors of the GTA Skating Academy. This policy will be decided upon on an individual basis with consultation with the directors of the GTA Skating Academy. Other ice may be acquired by GTA for this purpose. This policy is for safety purposes. If there are no skaters on a session, pairs/dancers may use the ice if, or until skaters join the session. Consideration also has to be given to younger, less experienced skaters that are using the ticket ice session and can be intimidated by fast and more mature pair/dancers skating together.
- The ticket ice we provide is ‘open’ ice; therefore, all levels of skaters may be on a session all at one time. Advanced skaters must understand they do not have the right of way on any ticket session, as we do not designate specific competitive sessions.
- The GTA Skating Academy Directors have the right to change the ticket ice schedule or the Code of Conduct at any time without any further notice.
- Anyone requesting a forensic search of ticket ice use will be charged $30 for the service and must provide an accurate record of the skaters use, i.e. date & time of sessions skated.
