Thornhill Community Centre is located in the suburb of Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. The facility is home to many major organizations, the Markham Islanders, the Thornhill Rebels, the Rattlers Jr. A Hockey Club and the Thornhill Figure Skating Club. The facility hosts and has hosted some of the biggest skating competitions and hockey tournaments (i.e., Central Ontario Summer Championships, Central Ontario FUN competition, Skate Canada Eastern Divisional Challenge and the North American Summer Championships. The facility has 2 ice pads both are 200′ by 85′. There is a ballet studio, fitness centre (discounted memberships can be arranged for skaters), a library, lounge, pool (close by), and many Community Programs. Pool
Associated with the Thornhill Community Centre but at a different location is Thornlea Pool. Thornlea Pool is located at 8075 Bayview Avenue, behind Thornlea High School. The pool measures 25 metres x 12.5 metres and can accommodate 189 bathers at any one time. It consists of six lanes, a one-metre diving board and tot docks, and is operated in conjunction with the York Region District Board of Education. |
