Adding Virtual Airline Routes

In order to create a scheduled flight a route must be created between each city pair for each route that you wish to place flights on. This is done by selecting the origin and then the destination. The same must be done for the return flight. Before purchasing and scheduling an aircraft it is recommended to do this step first and create all of the routes first. You virtual airline can only have one route between any given city pair. Cargo and Charter aircraft do not require routes to be opened as pilots can simply select the city pair that they want to take.

New Aircraft to your Virtual Airline

In order to add flights for your virtual airline you must have aircraft. It is possible to lease or purchase an aircraft for your virtual airline. When leasing an aircraft this is a time sensitive cost that is based on 130% of total cost of the aircraft over a 30 year period and is calculated by the second. Leased aircraft can be returned at any time and the payments stop immediately. Purchased aircraft can be sold at any time for their remaining virtual airlinelue but another Virtual Airline must purchase the aircraft. It is possible for any one aircraft to have a unique registration and no other aircraft can have the same registration. You can also purchase aircraft for sale by other Virtual Airlines. To do this you can go to the Brokerage. All newly purchased aircraft have a life span of 100,000 flying hours. When an aircraft is purchased or leased the aircraft is avirtual airlineilable immediately.

New Virtual Airline Flight

Once you have created routes and received aircraft you can create flights. Here you must select the route and then the departure time, arrivirtual airlinel time and the weekday of the flight. A scheduled aircraft can only be active if it’s network is connected. This means that the aircraft’s weekly schedule must end at the airport that it started from and all of the cities in between must be connected. For example New York to Los Angeles and then back from Los Angeles to New York is virtual airlinelid. New York to Chicago, then Chicago to Los Angeles, and then Los Angeles to New York is also virtual airlinelid. An aircraft can only have a maximum of 120 scheduled hours a week.

Your Virtual Airline Routes

Here you can see all of the routes that you have created. It will also show you the past flight information and route information including the weekly demand and scheduled passengers. This makes it easier to plan flights according to the demands on each route. It is advised to keep a consistent passenger demand and seats avirtual airlineilable ratio and have more seats avirtual airlineilable on each route then demand. From this menu you can also cancel any routes that do not have any scheduled flights.

View Virtual Airline's Schedules

From here you can view an aircraft’s schedule by selecting the aircraft. When viewing the schedule it will show the flight as NETWORK or BROKEN. NETWORK means that it is connected to the city before it and BROKEN means that it is not connected to the city before. If there is just one BROKEN flight the aircraft is INACTIVE. From this menu you can edit or delete any flight. In order to add an additional flight you must go to the New Flight menu.

Your Virtual Airline's Financial Information

The Financial menu gives you detailed transaction history of every transaction that your virtual airline has made including the date and time. For flights where you own the aircraft your assets will depreciate as you use the aircraft when you use the aircraft as where for leased aircraft your virtual airline is not charged for hourly usage. When you purchase stocks your cash goes down and assets increase in the virtual airlinelue of the purchase. When you sell stocks you will receive the profits in cash.

Add a Manager to your Virtual Airline

You are allowed to hire managers and give them accounts with specific permissions. You can hire one Manager for more then one permission but in order to do this you must create a separate account, however you can only use the same username and password. Managers will only be able to access the areas that you have assigned permission for, are all allowed to view the financial history of the virtual airline but you cannot give Managers permission to create other Manager accounts. This can only by done by the master account holder. All manager accounts can also be updated by the account holder. Managers cannot make your virtual airline money but they do not cost money either

Your Virtual Airline's Fleet

From the fleet menu you can change the assignment of your aircraft. You choose between Scheduled, Cargo and Charter assignments. Only scheduled aircraft can be placed on predetermined routes and they can make profits of up to $0.30 per passenger seat Nautical Mile depending on supply and demand. Cargo and Charter aircraft can be flown anywhere at any time and make a flat fee of $0.10 per passenger seat Nautical Mile. From this menu you can also sell or return leased aircraft. You can only scrap aircraft that you own that have less then 1000 avirtual airlineilable flying hours left. You can only reassign, sell or return a scheduled aircraft if it does not have an existing schedule. Any aircraft that is assigned as Cargo or Charter is automatically an active aircraft.

Your Virtual Airline's Dispatch Center to start the flight simulation!

The dispatch system is the brains and nerve center of your Virtual Airline. Here it shows all of the active aircraft that you have. If the aircraft is scheduled it will always show the next flight. For scheduled flights it shows the passengers that are waiting for the flight. This is based on the combination of three factors; 1) The distance of the route, city populations and average individual income 2) your virtual airline’s network, as connecting passengers are also factored in 3) direct route competition from other Virtual Airlines. The passenger demand is calculated real time so if you have a route with a passenger demand of 70 passengers then you will only see 10 waiting at the end of each day. The profit for the flight is also calculated real time where the demand is divided over the supply, and then multiplied by the amount of seats of the flight and miles of the route. If the demand is greater then the supply then the supply is divided over the demand.

A pilot can only book one flight and aircraft at any given time and nobody else can use that aircraft. When the flight is completed the aircraft becomes avirtual airlineilable again for someone else to take and the pilot can take another flight.

We are currently in the process of creating a dispatch system that allows pilots to take any flight on any route, as long as that aircraft is avirtual airlineilable to meet the needs of the current operations of most Virtual Airlines.

Virtual Airline Competition Simulation

Any two or more Virtual Airlines that have a route between the same city pair will be in direct competition with each other. If you are the only virtual airline operating a route then your market share will be 100%. If you open a new route that is already served by another virtual airline then your market share will automatically be 0% until you carry passengers on the route. You will have to rely on connecting passenger markets to fill seats on these flights at the beginning until you develop a larger market share. The market share is determined by the total amount of passengers that your virtual airline has carried to the total amount of passengers that have been carried by all of the Virtual Airlines serving the route. This competition can be viewed from the routes menu.

Buy Stocks in other virtual airlines

You can purchase the stocks of other Virtual Airlines participating in the network and they can purchase your Virtual Airline’s stocks. The stock prices are determined by the net worth of your virtual airline. The net worth of your virtual airline is determined by the total amount of cash and assets it has.
