Philippine Airlines Virtual (PALv), has launched new flights and introduced new aircraft to its fleet over the past few days. Coinciding with Philippine Airlines launch of its second Boeing 777-300ER (Boeing 777-36NER/RP-C7776), PALv has launched new direct 777 flights from Manila to Sydney and Melbourne, in the coming days we will be restructuring our Australian flights with these new 777 aircraft, which will mean the introduction of PAL’s new Manila-Melbourne-Brisbane-Manila triangle route, which is expected to be flown with the Airbus A330-300, this new Manila-Brisbane via Melbourne flight will be launched in a couple of days.

Philippine Airlines Virtual has also introduced new flights with the Boeing 747-400 (RP-C7471) to Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this is the first middle eastern flight flown by PAL for years, and can be flown now onboard RP-C7471. We expect to update regional flights and frequencies to Singapore and Japan thanks to the freed up frequencies of our Airbus A330-300 fleet due to the capacity increase from the introduction of the Boeing 777-300ER to our fleet. Remember to view our News Section on the Website for continous updates on the airline, as well as our messageboards.

We also hope you can visit the new vACC Vatsim Philippines website, thanks to the guys for that!

Dear Members,

Singapore Airlines Cargo Virtual is proud to the first of its kind here on Simmiles, as a subsidiary of mainstream Singapore Airlines Virtual. The cargo division will run as a separate entity with separate statistics from the mainstream carrier. We currently own a fleet of 9 Boeing 747-400F freighters, which we will use for our North American, European, African and Middle East operations. The European market will be our focus for now, with our secondary hubs in Brussels and Sharjah, where we will base some of our operations.

Unlike normal passenger flights, a cargo flight does quite a number of hops around the world before returning back to base. Such a system would allow our pilots to gain more exposure in flying in foreign territories, where we have to step out of our comfort zone and be familiar with other airports and airspace. Our pilots strongly welcome this new cargo division, and there is support from them to expand our operations, and establish the Singapore Virtual brand as a strong one, here on the Simmiles network.

Singapore Virtual and its subsidiaries, Silkair and Singapore Airlines Cargo, are very open to partnerships with other Virtual Airlines, and we look forward to establish a lasting partnership with interested Virtual Airline partners. Singapore Airlines Cargo is part of the WOW network in the real world, which is a cargo alliance between SAS Cargo, JAL Cargo and SIA Cargo. Should SASv and JALv decide to open cargo divisions, we are very much open for negotiations for a cargo partnership, which benefits all involved.

Singapore Virtual would like to thank all its pilots for their support for the past 1 year of operations, and we cannot thank them enough for bringing us this far. Our pilots have been a very great team, and it has shown us how our active and motivated human resource has established us as one of the leading Virtual Airlines on Simmiles.

Warmest Regards,
Lester Lee
Operations Manager
Singapore Virtual Airlines

Dear Members,

Starting today, Singapore Virtual and Air Canada Virtual have launched a Star Alliance partnership here on the Simmiles network. This partnership will see both Virtual Airlines simulating the codeshares of real world Singapore Airlines and Air Canada, where Singapore Airlines covers flights from Singapore to Europe, Australia and North East Asia for Air Canada, and Air Canada covers some trans-Pacific from North East Asia and trans-Atlantic flights from Europe for Singapore Airlines.

Our first step would be to establish a codeshare on the Singapore-London-Toronto route, where we see potential and growth, and strong activity in both our VAs. Singapore Virtual will be covering Singapore-London and London-Singapore with Air Canada Virtual holding 35%, while Air Canada will cover London-Toronto and Toronto-London with Singapore Virtual holding 40%. More agreements are to come, such as Singapore-Hong Kong-Vancouver, should activity increases.

In the long run, we hope to involve all Star Alliance Virtual Airlines here on Simmiles, such as Air New Zealand Virtual, and establish an extensive Star Alliance codeshare agreement on the network, which simulates the strong partnership between our real world counterparts. And on top of that, motivation of pilots from all parties is very important, to ensure that they commit and keep up with the codeshare operations, where all 3 Virtual Airlines will benefit and prosper.

Website 2010

As you can see i have done a 2.5 update to the website here, better quality same service. We have added new features light a popup login and in the future we will be adding a whole new profile panel and fleet page. Id like to thank FSTools to making our new skin for 2010!

Domain

I decided not to go throught with the domain change after i ran into troubles. jalvirtual.org is still a redirect.

New Forum BETA

I have also introduced a new forum system that intergrates into our site, i got rid of our old forum. This new forum is simpler and easy to use. *You must be registered on the site to use it. http://jlvirtual.x10hosting.com//index.php/Forum

VACentral

As part of our system we are intergrated into VACentral, a virtual airline competition network with over 50+ airlines registered its going to get big! http://dev.vacentral.net/airline/jal_japanairlinesvirtual

Simmiles

We are going to reintroduce simmiles into our system, by adding a whole new website. We are going to now treat Simmiles as a seperate enity and a another option on filing a pirep it adds varity to our airline! Coming in March 2010

New Schedules

I am going to finish off the RJAA-Asia Schedules by the end of this month these flights will be in the JAL900 Series, 900-999 Flt#. Next series i am going to start is the RJOO 1000-1499 Domestic, than the RJBB 1500-1999 flights. All schedules are current with JAL Timetable from December 2009.

Japan Airlines Troubles

Our realife counterpart Japan Airlines is going throught some money troubles at the moment so we are going to observe this situation, and if the worst does happen JAL Virtual will still be around and we are not cuting back operations. We are keeping the status quo, and we will base the airline around the period 2007.

SimMiles opened it’s doors for VA business on January 3rd 2008. Since then the community has grown exponentially to over 40 active virtual airlines. The system has made many improvements to the PIREP system and the flight tracker. Within the past 730 days (2 years) a total of 15, 484 flight have been completed in total by over 50 virtual airlines on the system. The SimMiles online flying and flight simulation network has been online since February of 2009 and has seen a total of 1,620 flights completed.

I would like to extend my graditude to everyone that has participated in making these past 2 years successful from the people that help SimMiles running on a day to day basis to the pilots that fly with virtual airlines on a regular basis. SimMiles has become a reliable, quality, and important VA PIREP system. Several improvements have been made to the PIREP system in the past year that include news feeds, code sharing, seating configuration layouts for aircraft, more automated Pilot Application system and a much more reliable online flight tracker.

As we go into the new year we will be continuing to make improvements and add features to the PIREP system to keep it updated, practical and user friendly. There will also be additional pages added to the main SimMiles website manual to reflect the changes to the PIREP system. The previous rules and procedures will also be revised and updated to make operations more organized. I hope that everyone had wonderful holidays and that the success of SimMiles will continue as we continue to develop it and make it the best possible for all users.

Sincerely,

Tony Kovacs

EVERETT, Wash., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Boeing (NYSE: BA) today delivered a 777-300ER (Extended Range) to U.S.-based leasing company GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) and its customer, Philippine Airlines (PAL).

The new airplane is the first 777 to join PAL’s fleet and is one of two leased 777-300ERs the airline will deploy on its international routes. In addition the airline has four more 777-300ERs on order directly from Boeing from 2007.

Boeing, PAL and three non-profits leveraged this delivery to bring relief to residents who were recently devastated by the massive floods from Typhoon Ketsana. With the help of AmeriCares, Humanitarian International Services Group (HISG) and Kids Against Hunger, Boeing and PAL loaded nearly 18,000 pounds of medical supplies and packaged meals into the cargo hold of the 777-300ER.

“It is our great hope that this collaborative effort will bring some comfort to the flood victims during this very challenging time,” said Fred Kiga, vice president, State and Local Government Relations and Global Corporate Citizenship for the Northwest Region.

Jaime J. Bautista, PAL president, who led a small PAL delegation that joined the delivery flight to Manila, said he was glad to be able to personally deliver the relief donations to the Philippines. “The airlift of relief goods is inherent to our mandate as the Philippines flag carrier. Earlier, we conducted a similar airlift of relief from local donors. I am sure these donations will go a long way in alleviating the plight of the victims and help in rebuilding their lives,” Bautista said.

The addition of the 777-300ER to the PAL fleet brings new twin-engine efficiency to the airline’s long-haul fleet. The airplanes are powered by General Electric GE90-115BLs, the world’s largest and most powerful commercial jet engine. The 777-300ER is well known for its cargo capacity — up to 7,120 cubic feet (201.6 cubic meters).

“The Boeing 777-300ER is a great choice for PAL, giving Asia’s first commercial airline the most efficient airplane in the 300-to-400 seat segment,” said Rob Laird, vice president of Sales for East and Southeast Asia Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “It provides the airline the flexibility to serve key markets worldwide while offering its passengers the highest levels of comfort and reliability.”

Philippine Airlines, the national flag carrier, conducted its first flight March 15, 1941, and has been operating longer than any other airline in Asia. PAL is a long-time Boeing customer and currently operates five Boeing 747-400s.

The Boeing 777-300ER is 19 percent lighter than its closest competitor, greatly reducing its fuel requirement. It produces 22 percent less carbon dioxide per seat and costs 20 percent less to operate per seat. The airplane can seat up to 365 passengers in a three-class configuration and has a maximum range of 7,930 nautical miles (14,685 km). The 777 family is the world’s most successful twin-engine, twin-aisle airplane. Fifty-seven customers around the world have ordered more than 1,100 777s.

With this milestone in PAL’s history, PALv will be also officially launching the Boeing 777-300ER alongside the real thing on November 20, we will be launching the 777 on its initial route to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney and Melbourne. Expect it to join our flight dispatch system shortly. We expect further 777’s to be added to our roster as they arrive, do note that it is speculated that PAL has deferred its main purchase order of 4x 777’s, whilst the GECAS leased 777’s will arrive as planned. This is understandable in the current economic storm in the Airline Industry.

RP-C7777 has launched flights to Hong Kong and Tokyo initially, available for our pilots to operate via the flight dispatch. We expect to introduce flights to Australia with RP-C7777 in the coming weeks.

Flights PR300/301 (Manila to Hong kong) and PR432/431 (Manila to Tokyo) are currently available with RP-C7777.

Hello!

And welcome to another Astraeus virtual news article. I would briefly just like to say that by the end of this week at the very very latest Astraues virtual will be taking to the skies. To help AEU take off i’ve had to hire three new members of staff. Some of these new members even have connections to the real world Astraeus!

The First Member Of Staff - Scott Gabler - Vice CEO

The Second Member Of Staff - Steven Jackson - Press & Media

The Third Member Of Staff - Emil Elkjær Nielsen - Boeing Chief Pilot

I want to wish these new members of the Astraeus virtual the best of luck in their new roles and hope that we will all have a happy relationship well into the future.

Government Agencies and Government contractors have started to test Air Traffic Control Simulator software on the SimMiles network for simulation evaluation. Periodically Air Traffic Control and pilot client connections will be made to the servers. Some of these positions both ATC and aircraft may be manned while others may not be. The times and locations of these tests will NOT be posted publically, however they will also not interefere with Virtual Airline operations on the network.

The SimMiles Flight Simulation server is designed to guarantee member Virtual Airline pilots a network to fly on use to complete virtual airline flights and this will not change. It is possible that while you are on the SimMiles network that you may come in contact with Air Traffic Control and asked to participate as a simulated pilot. You are NOT required to partipate or even respond to any communication by Air Traffic Controllers if you do not wish to participate and there will be no consequence to this. If you choose to participate you will be restricted to only use private text since the voice server and software used for ATC communications is not available publically at this time.

In the future it is possible that Air Traffic Control services on a regular basis in selected countries may be introduced and offered, however at this point access to connecting to the network as ATC is restricted to authorized 3rd party groups.

Philippine Airlines has begun restructuring our fleet and route schedule, starting with introducing new flights to previously unserved Philippine destinations. To cope with the increasing workload, an Airbus A319 (RP-C8603), has been introduced to the fleet, launching new flights to Ozamis airport and Ormoc airport (Dapitan), these two previously unserved destinations can now be flown with RP-C8603. Flights from Manila to Hong Kong have also been increased with RP-C8603, with a new frequency now being flown. This Hong Kong flight is the last PAL flight in the evening to depart for Hong Kong, and spends the night in Hong Kong for the return leg to Manila the next day.

Currently Caticlan airport (Boracay) has officially ceased to allow larger aircraft to land at it’s short runway, the famed destination has increased the runway restrictions at the airport, essentially meaning PAL Express cannot land it’s Q300’s at the airport anymore. The nearby Kalibo Airport (RPVK) is already being served by mainline Philippine Airlines Jet aircraft, and is expected to increase in frequencies to compensate for this sudden loss in Boracay services. PAL Express Q300 aircraft, in line with the restructuring and recent new restrictions at Caticlan airport (RPVE) will be diverted to new destinations and airports, whilst it is expected Jet services to Kalibo airport are to increase. For now Caticlan airport will be phased out of our schedule until further notice.
